These are the original train carriages in which Jews were transported to Nazi concentration camps all over Poland and Europe... this station was one of the main transportation centres where prisoners were sorted and redirected to various camps including Auschwitz... quite an eerie place...
thanks to everyone for visiting and commenting... please critique at will - i am looking to learn so any comments and tips are appreciated...

Thanks for sharing this sad and poignant place. Gives new meaning to 'train terminal'. We need these reminders.

Smart angle of the shot that ties in to the history of what heavy-heartedness this place carries. Brilliant image.

This place is near a large polish city called Lodz. Well, I am Polish and many years ago, as a teenager, I visited Auschwitz and the place made a huge impression on me. As Stephen said in earlier comment, we need these reminders.... Nicely done, thank you...

@Roman: yes we certainly do need them... I was born in Lodz but have been living in Australia for 17 years now.. i have visited Auschwitz as well and will post photos from there at some stage in the future... it is really beyond imagination what one human being can do to another...
The angle is great and adds the impact to a powerful shot. Good work.

It is a beautiful shot that symbolizes the evil that men can do. The low angle adds to that feeling of evil.

Thank you for the last 2 photos. Very good imagery. Imagine being one of the people getting off the train. It's unfortunate that history does repeat itself. My ancestry also goes back to Lodz. Fortunately, my family was here long before this nightmare began.

I recommend the documentary "Shoah." After the fact people like to pretend that these death trains were some kind of secret, but as Shoah makes clear, these trains were hard to miss, and many people actually taunted the Jews as they passed through the countryside. Now people want to pretend that everyone was against it, but at the time there were enough people actually reveling it what was happening that we should all wonder about the capacity for evil in every human being.
