old town at night

Krakow is one of the older and more majestic Polish cities - it used to be the capital city of Poland for many years until the capital was moved to Warsaw... the Old Town part of Krakow is especially beautiful, even more so during night time...

welcome to my photoblog and thanks for visiting... my aim is to learn photography and share my experiences with you, not only through my attempts at photography, but also through showing different aspects of the world that have caught my interest over the time that i have been walking this planet... hope you enjoy the journey with me...

@dj.tigersprout: I have lived in Australia since 1991 and I spend more of my life here that in Poland... so far I only managed to go back twice - in 1996 (very short) and for a longer trip in 2006... if all goes well I might have a chance to go again next year...

@Jasp: yeah it was around midnight on a weeknight and also before the main tourist season...

Again, very nice, did you use a kind of crossed sreen filter to get te "stars" around the lights ?
What is your exposure time ? There is nobody ! ? The exposure time could not be very long becauce the moon remains"sharp".

@Jean-Michel: hey there Jean-Michel! I have not used a filter - the stars are due to small aperture (f/8), I couldn't go any smaller on the S2 IS which I had at the time - the smaller the aperture (higher f number) the more visible "star" effect... exposure was 15 seconds and there weren't too many people around at the time...

This has a really crisp feel. The subdued tones and detail of the buildings are made all the more attractive by the lights. I'm quite fond of the subtle inclusion of people, too.
