Elephant Rocks III

just to finish off the Elephant Rocks, I present a wider view of the area... you can see here the exactly how the rocks are situated...

I agree with some comments before - about shooting with a bigger F number, which would improve sharpness and DOF for landscapes - I have had a few comments like this during last year... I have taken them on board - these shots were taken prior to that advice and during my recent trip to Tasmania I have been using smaller aperture to great effect... i will post those photos some time in the future...

once again thanks for valuable advice - keep it coming - i do appreciate it a lot!

another wonderfu shot of this fantastic area! I now can see that the rocks themselves look like a herd of elephants crossing the water. Very nice shots - all of them! I also think that the sharpness is perfect here, I don't see any unsharp areas, but maybe I need glasses? :)

A superb composition, Dark elf, such detail and colouration to please my eyes. I personally have no problem with any sharpness issues regarding your images, which I think are astoundingly beautiful and very well presented.

As to the F stop - it all depends on your intention. Sometimes you want a shallow DoF.

I've just finished reading the notes for this photo and I agree with you 100% about the higher aperture setting. F9/10 - and even an ISO of 100 - might have served this gorgeous setting well. Mind you, there isn't much wrong with it anyway and it all comes down to personal preference.

At the same time, you can still edit the contrast and tonal range in PS (or equivalent) if you really want to?

Personally, I think HDR could kick both of those suggestions' arse, but it's not excessively useful before/after certain times of the day and you'd have to have been there early in the day or later at night. The clouds really complete the entire composition for me, so perhaps you can go ahead and ignore this entire paragraph!

This has been an excellent series. Great work!

@Sash: thanks for the comments and suggestion - I have to admit, I tend to prefer the natural light and colours as much as possible, hence i do shoot and process for HDR... however, i agree, that in certain situations it can be useful and have a great effect on the shot so I will definitely give it a bigger go at some stage in the future...
