another photo from the city of Lodz... this city was a major textile producing centre over the 20th century and it was called Manchester of the East (in Europe)... since the fall of communism a lot of factories have been abandoned and the industry has died down...

the building here - part of the old Poznanski Factory complex - has been converted to a shopping mall/cinema/pubs/cafe/clubs area - the biggest in Lodz... this is just one way, in which the old building are being salvaged from destruction and it is a good thing as they really give this city its character and remind of its history...
