Leura Cascades

another photo from Blue Mountains, this time Leura Cascades... it was amazing walking through the forest there and just hearing the water flowing next to the path...

i took this photo using a polarising filter to reduce reflections from the wet foliage and the water, a further 2 stop nd filter to increase the shutter speed and also in the top right hand corner I used an nd grad filter to cover the area where there was a bit more light coming through to protect it from being blown out...

Surprised you could see through the viewfinder! It's really well captured though and a classic landscape subject. If I was ultra-critical, the highlight in the bottom pool seems a little burnt-out but given the problems you overcame, that's nit-picking.

@Vinman: it is just a bit - it was not easy to control the whole scene as the dark areas under the rocks were very dark and it was always going to be the choice where to compromise when shooting just a single frame... i am not yet advanced enough to try blending exposures and my aim is to try to get it as right as possible straight out of the camera...

Beautiful shot......and I can hear the sound you speak of.......used to be spots like this in the mountains, in Pennsylvania, here in the US.......I used to wander there, as a younger girl!!!

Very well done and I'm sure it was hard to get this picture done with all the nd filters in the hand. In the front right there where the water ends it is still al little bit over exposed, but I'm sure that you did the best you can in this light situation. Once again, very nice picture. Excelent.

@tsenwei: hello Tsenwei! there are plenty of places to take good photos in blue mountains... this was my first time there so I just went to the most popular sights... there is still plenty more to see and capture next time around...
