Cape Reinga

we have made it to the top of New Zealand!

Cape Reinga is the northwesternmost tip of the Aupouri Peninsula and is located over 100 km north of the nearest small town of Kaitaia... State Highway 1 extends all the way to the Cape...

Cape Reinga separates the Tasman Sea to the west and the Pacific Ocean to the east... from the lighthouse it is possible to see the two seas clash to create unsettled waters just off the coast...

it is not quite the northernmost point of the North Island - North Cape's Surville Cliffs are slightly further north but it is the furthest that we got to...
