Bieszczady Mountains are located in the south east corner if Poland near borders of Ukraine and Slovakia. They are very picturesque and many hiking trails run through the National Park. The treeless, grassy ridges are a distinctive feature of these mountains.

We embarked on an eight hour trek through Bieszczady in 2015. It was our first time there and we were enchanted. The early Autumn has coloured the grasses beautifully and a lovely clear day with light cloud cover was just perfect.

I know that the favoured times of the day for landscape photography are the golden hours around sunrise and sunset. However, I do not refrain from taking photos during the day, especially when the weather and landscapes are as good as this. For me it was the clear, crisp daylight that brought out the best of the colours - the blue sky, green foliage of the trees, golden tall grass and bronze hues of the lower grass. Of course, I used a polarising filter to further enhance the tones and contrast.
