Autumn Wonderland

Posted by
Darkelf Photography (Perth, Australia) on 11 September 2016 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Autumn colours come to life in the little oasis in the middle of nowhere that is Gjain in Iceland.

I thoroughly recommend a side trip to this wonderful spot, especially in late September and October. When we visited Autumn was still in its early stages but the colours were already wonderful and this place is really the stuff from fairytale land.

It is a small area but it abounds in streams, waterfalls, lava rocks, trees, all sorts of plants and it feels just like another planet. Arriving there we had no idea of what it was like and when you get there, it seems nothing out of the ordinary. Until that is, you start walking down the steps into the valley and this amazing landscape opens up around you and just pulls you right in.
