Staying in Iceland for today's photo - this is a place that is very well known these days - Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon. First day we stayed there we ventured out for a sunset shoot over the lagoon. You cannot see it in this image but the shores were lined up with hundreds of photographers. I have never seen so many tripods in one place at the same time, not even in a camera store. It was all reasonably civilised though. Sometimes one longs for peace and solitude but at other times it is good to share a moment with many others because they are drawn to these places for the same reason that we are - their beauty and atmosphere.
The clouds lit up just enough to allow for some sunset colours to come through and the colours also reflected nicely in the water below in between the icebergs. It was high tide at the time so the icebergs were all bunched up in the lagoon and they made for an amazing icy landscape. This is a single frame shot that I cropped later into a panorama. The sky just over the clouds was a little bland and it distracted from the rest of the scene in my mind.
It has been over a year since our trip but I am still discovering images from Iceland that are worthy of additional processing work. I do my base processing in the first few weeks after returning, pick my favourites and then let the remaining selected photos sit in my mind until one clicks right with me to develop further. I am not one to post the photos all at once. I prefer to discover them again and again over a period of time and I often find that my vision for the final result has matured during that time. Only then I am ready to complete the post processing work on these images.
This is one image that I wanted to share earlier but only recently my vision for this scene has settled enough for me to complete it.
