I do not think we get to see lenticular clouds in Australia too often. May be in Tasmania or in the Snowy Mountains. I have not seen one here. I do love them though and I was thrilled when we saw one forming over Mount Ruapehu in New Zealand. We were able to watch it form from just about nothing into a full blown massive mushroom like cloud formation.
This is the view we had across the fence alongside the road as we were driving towards Tongariro National Park to look for a suitable location for a sunset shoot. For those who follow me on Facebook, I previously posted a photo where the cloud looks just like a UFO saucer descending on the mountain. That photo was taken right at the beginning and this one I took about 20 minutes later.
I will post a couple of other photos with the cloud from different angles and in different light, once I get to process them.
