"I'm longing for innocence and simple dreams,
I'm longing for ignorance and bliss"
A couple of lines from a song I know that express how I feel when we encounter evenings such as this one at Myponga Beach in South Australia during our travels. Sometimes I wish I could stay in the state of ignorance and bliss forever, alas this is quite impossible.
This was the best sunset during our short journey to South Australia over the New Year. It was pretty much the only decent sunset or sunrise we got for the five days. That made me even more determined to make the most of it, hopping from rocks to rock, trying to find a good composition. I wanted to find a spot where reflection of colourful clouds would be very prominent and I found it almost at the last moment.
The colours started to disappear soon afterwards and also the tide begun to rise quickly. I just managed to get the colours and the still reflections that I was hoping for. I also liked the subtle detail below the water surface. I have some more dynamic images from a bit earlier but the stillness in this one sums up my feelings about that evening perfectly.
The bliss ended quite abruptly later on, as we hit a kangaroo on the way back from the beach. Luckily the only damage was to the car and not to us inside the vehicle.
