Eternal Balance

Sometimes one is presented with scenes of such balance in nature that they are almost unreal. This is one such scene at the Cathedral Cove in New Zealand.

I was looking for ideas for a long exposure and I noticed this sea stack positioned perfectly between the two larger "islands" in the background. Well, it was not positioned perfectly until I worked out the right angle and perspective but the moment I saw it, I knew what my composition was going to be.

I also immediately thought of mono conversion and of keeping the clouds and water very smooth around the stacks. I wanted to keep the texture in the water and clouds very minimal. The vision I had was for the balance to speak for itself with no other distractions to the tranquillity of this scene.

The main rock is the same one I photographed later on with the rising moon in Blue Aura image that I posted previously, just from a different angle.
