Golden Road

Sometimes one discovers new places, as we did to take the previous photo, sometimes it can be good to re-discover and re-visit old favourites. Just like this golden road with poplar trees lining up on either side. We found this place almost exactly a year ago and just about all leaves have fallen by the time we got there. This year we went out there again in hope that more leaves were still on the trees and that the light would be a little more interesting.

Indeed we got lucky on both accounts. Compared to the photo from 2016, you can see that there are a lot more golden leaves still on the poplars and I think that the light was also better. There was just enough sun shining through to illuminate some of the foliage and to create some interesting shadows on the road. I hope that the composition is also a bit more open and balanced, which was something that I wanted to achieve.

I really love this spot. It is a little out of the way so it seemed to be a bit quieter and bit more peaceful. Walking down this road again, surrounded by golden Autumn leaves was a wonderful experience.
