As we followed the ring road around Iceland, there were many opportunities to stop by the side, breath in the scenery and take photographs. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with a road photo in Iceland. There is always a mountain, sea, waterfall, stream or lava field around - you just name it.
This area is located on the eastern side of Vestrahorn mountain that I previously posted with its wonderful clear reflections in the water. From this angle you can see the "Batman" tip of the mountain a lot more clearly as it extends towards the south. I though that the glistening water and wet road provided a good contrast to the dark rocky mountains. That is something that I often look for in my black and white images. Strong contrast that helps to isolate and distinguish the main elements of the composition.
Looking at this mountains it is hard not admire the amazing work that nature does. Just like in the previous waterfall photo and the canyon shaped by the flowing water, the shapes of the rocks and peaks here are just so out of this world. They looks both beautiful and ominous at the same time, reminding me that it is the volatile volcanic character of the island that has shaped these natural sculptures over many many years.
