Busy Bee

A bonus photo today to go with the current 'bug' theme. I have thoroughly enjoyed all the insect photos that everyone has been posting and there have been some outstanding images there. I was a little hesitant to post any of my efforts given the quality of other posts but here it goes. I took this one a few years ago in our backyard with the bees busy pollinating our lemon tree. I am actually scared of flying insects with stings but more so of wasps and larger ones. Keep hornets away from me and luckily we have no hornets in Australia (at least for now). Bees I can just about get by and I managed to get in between them for this photo. It was one my very earliest attempts at macro and I was shooting at wide open aperture to ensure that there was minimal blur as the bees were flying and moving around. I was certainly glad to get the focus here reasonably close on the eye. Very minimal processing was applied to this image other than the usual raw conversion and a bit of extra contrast boost and sharpening added later.
